Active Aging Week

October 3-9 is recognized as Active Aging Week each year since 2003, and this initiative was started by the International Council on Active Aging. You might be asking, what does this mean for you? Active Aging Week is important for seniors, their caregivers, and really everyone because it promotes and celebrates aging, something that will happen to all of us eventually.

While society can often look at aging negatively, Active Aging Week celebrates aging and older adults and helps promote the idea that they can live full lives and continue to participate in society. The goal of this week is to help seniors experience and participate in wellness activities and exercise. If you’re interested in finding wellness activities, exercise classes, and other social opportunities for seniors check out our October calendar.
